Matheus is a conservation social scientist at the World Wildlife Fund (US). He provides scientific and strategy-development support to partners at WWF Indonesia for their marine protected area and community forest programs. More broadly, Matheus's work focuses on understanding the linkages between conservation interventions and social outcomes, and how evidence-based decisions can lead to better conservation outcomes overall. He has an interdisciplinary background in human ecology, environment, and data science, and has previously worked on conservation issues in Peru, Bhutan, and the U.S. Before joining WWF, Matheus supported monitoring and evaluation at Conservation International and the U.S. National Park Service. Matheus holds an M.Sc in Environmental Social Science from the Ohio State University.
